Scam prevention

Know the warning signs before you move money

Investment fraud rarely looks like fraud. This gallery shows the patterns we see most often, what a legitimate business will never ask you for, and how to verify us independently.

Impersonation of brands and staff

Impersonation of brands and staff

  • Messages from lookalike domains or personal numbers claiming to be Northstar staff
  • Unsolicited contact after you posted about investing on social media
  • Pressure to move the conversation to WhatsApp, Telegram or Signal

We never contact you first with an investment offer, and we never message you from a personal account.

Guaranteed or fixed returns

Guaranteed or fixed returns

  • Promised daily, weekly or monthly percentage returns
  • Screenshots of profits used as proof
  • A 'manager' who says losses cannot happen

Digital assets are volatile and can lose value. Nobody can guarantee a return, and any figure we publish is sourced and dated.

Remote access and seed-phrase requests

Remote access and seed-phrase requests

  • Being asked to install AnyDesk, TeamViewer or a 'support' app
  • Anyone asking for your 12 or 24-word recovery phrase
  • Requests for your password, one-time code or a screen share while you log in

No legitimate business needs your recovery phrase, password or one-time code. We will never ask for them.

Unverifiable licence claims

Unverifiable licence claims

  • Licence or registration numbers that return no result on an official register
  • Certificates supplied as images rather than register links
  • Claims of government backing or guaranteed protection of your funds

Check every claim yourself on ASIC Connect and the AUSTRAC register. Our current regulatory status is published in full on our disclosures page.

Before you act

A six-step verification routine

  1. 01Stop. Legitimate opportunities survive a 24-hour pause.
  2. 02Search the business name plus 'scam' or 'review' before sending anything.
  3. 03Verify licence and registration numbers on the official register, not a link the caller supplies.
  4. 04Never share recovery phrases, passwords or one-time codes with anyone.
  5. 05Send a small test amount only after independent verification — and never under pressure.
  6. 06Report suspected scams to Scamwatch and your bank immediately.

What we will never do

  • Cold-call or message you with an investment offer.
  • Ask for your password, one-time code or recovery phrase.
  • Ask you to install remote-access software.
  • Promise a guaranteed, fixed or risk-free return.
  • Ask you to send funds to a personal wallet or account.

If something does not match this list, stop and contact us through the details published on our own site.

Customer testimonials

Verified words from real account holders

We only publish a testimonial after compliance has confirmed the person's identity and holds their written consent on file. We do not buy, script, incentivise or edit reviews, and we never present a testimonial as an indication of future performance.

No verified testimonials are published yet. Rather than fill this space with stock quotes, we leave it empty until real customers have consented to be quoted.
Past experience is not an indicator of future results. Digital assets are volatile and you can lose the money you invest. Read our risk disclosure and regulatory disclosures before investing. Northstar Digital Markets operates in sandbox mode; no customer funds are held.
